Do TerraPans need a foam block insert to maintain quality?
We have found that many makers heavily rely on foam inserts inside the instrument to enhance their quality. We strive to avoid these and find they are necessary for an average of 1 in 10 TerraPans. In this case, the resonance may be impeded by how certain frequencies are interacting in the chamber, and the foam insert must remain in it's original place. For these rare cases, we will inscribe a discrete line on the flange, so the player can reattach it with a strong double sided duct tape if needed. Please never glue the foam insert, as it will only complicate our process of later retuning if necessary.
